Greetings delegates, and welcome to NCSC XXXVI. I’d like to congratulate my esteemed comrades for being appointed to the 18th Politburo of the People’s Republic of China. We face a weekend of arduous work ahead of us, as we toil to bring the People’s Republic of China to its rightful place at the forefront of all nations. The changing internal and external political climates bring challenges to be faced and problems to resolve while highlighting the relevant, pressing issues so often ignored by those that came before us. Our staff is hard at work preparing in anticipation of your arrival. Please allow me to introduce both myself and our Crises Manager for the conference.
My name is Kim Keller and I will be your humble Chair for NCSC XXXVI. I am a rising senior in the McDonough School of Business, majoring in both finance and management. After leaving the pleasantly relaxing life found in southern New Jersey (the nice part of Jersey), I came to Georgetown to strategically position myself so that I would be the only MSB student this year to also be deemed worthy of being a NCSC chair. Once my responsibilities to the great organization that is the Georgetown International Relations Club have come to an end at the completion of this year, I hope to promote the progression of industry until said industry feels generous enough to grace me with enough money for law school. Outside of writing slightly ridiculous introductory letters with the help of my Crises Manager, I thoroughly enjoy Georgetown basketball, spontaneous dance parties, traveling, and pretending I speak more languages than I do.
Timothy William Catlett, your esteemed Crises Manager, is a rising junior in the Walsh School of Foreign Service. Born to a merchant family in the boondocks of New Jersey, in the auspicious year of 1987, Timothy rejected his father’s trade in oral contraceptives, and fled to the city of Washington D.C., to pursue his passion in delivering mass destruction. He is currently a security studies major, specializing in Chinese defense industry modernization, and its integration into the Chinese civilian economy. Once he is finished with his education, he hopes to employ these skills in the service of the American National Interest, in whatever branch will take him. Outside of studying how to make as many guns as possible, Timothy pursues his interests in Jazz, modern vocal music, materialist philosophy and history, and Super Smash Brothers. He plays as Jigglypuff, because shes cute.
I’m going to try a bit of a different system this year in order to make sure everyone gets any and all updates we may have to make before the conference starts. If you could please e-mail me at kkeller09(at)gmail.com at some point before the conference, I’ll be able to pass on committee updates to everyone to ensure that we keep up with rapidly developing situations. If at any time you want to contact us, feel free. Tim’s e-mail is twc9(at)georgetown.edu, and as I said, mine is kkeller09(at)gmail.com. Thanks, and welcome once again to NCSC XXXVI! See you on the hilltop!
Hoya Saxa,
Kim
