Dress Code
All delegates and staff should be dressed tastefully and appropriately in Western Business Attire (WBA) at all times. For men, WBA consists of a suit, dress shirt, and necktie. Leather shoes and dark socks are also appropriate. For women, WBA consists of a pantsuit or knee-length skirt suit worn with a conservative blouse. High heels or tasteful flats are appropriate. Prohibited articles for both sexes include flip-flops, tennis shoes, jeans, and anything that exposes the midriff or undergarments. Chairs and members of the Secretariat hold the right to ask any delegate to change for a clear violation of this policy.
Technology
Laptops are strictly prohibited in committee unless the Chair directs delegates otherwise. Delegates are free to use laptops in the hallways outside of committee but may not have them open within committee rooms. Delegates are also asked to silence the ringers of all electronic devices while in committee. If a phone call or text message is necessary during committee, we ask that it be done outside the committee room, in the hallway.
Awards
Individual delegate awards will be given as follows:
• Committees of 0-19 positions: 1 Best, 1 Outstanding, 1 Honorable
• Committees of 20-49 positions: 1 Best, 1 Outstanding, 2 Honorable
• Committees of 50-100 positions: 1 Best, 2 Outstanding, 3 Honorable
Individual delegate awards will be given at the discretion of the chair on the basis of the quality and impact of a delegate’s contributions, the successful defense of the delegate’s sectional or factional interests in the final outcome of the committee, and the delegate’s general demeanor during committee.
Delegation awards will be determined on the following basis:
• Small Delegations: 1 Best, 1 Outstanding
• Large Delegations: 1 Best, 1 Outstanding
Total delegation scores will be calculated according to the following ratios:
• 50% of a delegation’s score will be derived from its total accumulated award points (4 for each Best Delegate, 3 for each Outstanding, 2 for each Honorable)
• 50% of a delegation’s score will be derived from its win ratio (the percentage of all team members that won a Best, Outstanding, or Honorable Delegate award)
