The Executives

Dear Delegates and Advisors,

On behalf of the Georgetown International Relations Association and the NCSC LII Secretariat, it is our privilege to welcome you to the 52nd iteration of the National Collegiate Security Conference, held in our nation’s capital of Washington, DC. For over half a century, we have been incredibly proud to host one of the country’s premier Model United Nations conferences with many of the strongest teams across the globe in attendance. We look forward to putting on the best conference possible for your delegation this coming November.

For 51 years, NCSC has prided itself on providing a slate of modern, realistic, and security focused committees that present delegates with both a high quality competitive experience and an opportunity to learn about a variety of underrepresented international issues. We look to continue that tradition this year as we develop a slate of groundbreaking committees considering a range of topics. From addressing colonial legacies and multinational integration in the African Union of Railways to handling modern dividing lines in the Belfast City Council, delegates will work to shape the future of our modern world through the conflicts that have marked its past. They will consider complex conflicts in the Indonesia-Malaysia confrontation, tackle repressive governments in the Cabinet of Yemalyen Pugachev, and navigate the American legislative process in the 2014 U.S. Senate. NCSC will also be continuing its tradition of holding an Ad-hoc General Assembly, to push delegates beyond the bounds of normal general assemblies with innovative topics

NCSC is also determined to continue our standard of providing a welcoming, positive, and inclusive environment for delegates of all backgrounds. This year, in order to uplift the voices of underrepresented groups on the collegiate circuit, we are excited to continue our crisis committee exclusively for delegates who identify as women or GNC individuals, with “And You Thought Your In-Laws Were Bad: Sedo Politics in Joseon Korea, 1834” (All-Women's/GNC). In the realm of delegate experience, NCSC is also excited to present enjoyable programming opportunities such as our popular Club Night at Saint Yves (not to be confused with St. Ives in Cambridgeshire, England!) as well as bring back our Head Delegate Reception tradition. Furthermore, stay tuned for committee-specific speaker events and excursions to make the most of our D.C. location—with the opportunity to hear from experts in international relations and visit foreign embassies, and to experience DC in the leadup to the 2024 Presidential Election. 

Finally, this conference simply would not be possible without our amazing Secretariat team and the over 200 gGorgetown staffers who volunteer to help bring this conference to life and provide delegates with a wonderful experience both in committee and at conference programming. We look forward to seeing you all in D.C. this October to experience our nation’s capital and enjoy the most innovative conference of the year!
