A Letter from the Executives

Dear Delegates and Advisors,

On behalf of the Georgetown International Relations Association and the entire conference Secretariat, we are extremely excited to welcome you to the 47th iteration of the National Collegiate Security Conference. Since its creation almost 50 years ago, NCSC has established itself as one of the nation’s elite collegiate Model United Nations competitions. We pride ourselves in hosting the premier college conference in the Washington, D.C. metro area attended by the most competitive schools across North America. Additionally, we are indebted to our exceptional staff, sourced from one of the world’s pre-eminent institutions in international affairs for running committees of unparalleled quality. We would be truly honored to host your delegation from October 17th-20th, 2019.

NCSC will be hosted at the beautiful DoubleTree by Hilton in Crystal City, VA, just across the street from Reagan National Airport. Delegates will be within ten minutes of the heart of downtown D.C., including the Capitol, White House, and Washington Monument. In addition to the allure of the day-to-day operations of the most powerful leaders in the world, this historical city also boasts a vibrant entertainment scene through an abundance of the best restaurants, bars, clubs, and music venues in the country.

Beyond our prime location in the nation’s capital, the heart of NCSC is in the unmatched caliber of our committees. This year, delegates will have the opportunity to reshape American history through the recreation of the contentious 2000 Presidential election, carve out a better condition for women in the European Union and beyond through the fierce leadership in Hidden Powers, or serve to rectify some of the darkest times in Argentina through the cabinet of Raúl Alfonsín. Through our careful selection of committees, NCSC is reaffirming its commitment to the the highest caliber of modern, realistic, and security-focused committees on the circuit.

Finally, this conference would not be possible without the team of almost 200 dedicated and experienced Georgetown students who staff NCSC. They have been working since February to make sure that this year’s committees are well-run and engaging for everyone involved. Additionally, our Secretariat is working tirelessly to ensure that your NCSC XLVII experience will be unforgettable, and we cannot wait to welcome you to our NCSC, for what is sure to be the most exciting conference of the year.

All the best,

Mark Wilcox
