The Ad Hoc Committee of The Secretary-General
NOTE: Delegates in the Ad Hoc will not receive the committee topic or background guide prior to first committee session on Thursday evening.
The Ad Hoc Committee of the Secretary-General is one of the most competitive Model UN committees on the collegiate circuit, and the pinnacle of NCSC LIII’s crisis experience. The committee premise will remain confidential until distribution of the Background Guide in the conference’s first committee session. Delegates will be challenged to develop unique strategies on the spot, engage in high caliber debate, and craft crises quickly and creatively.
Chair:
Cynthia Lu
-
Wisconsin, studying [REDACTED] and minoring in [REDACTED]. She was introduced to Model UN during her freshman year at Georgetown—since then, Cynthia has had the privilege of serving as Executive Director of NCSC LII, Under-Secretary-General of Councils & Boards of NCSC LI, and a member of GUMUN’s Conferences Staff. She’s also staffed [REDACTED], one of Georgetown International Relation Association’s global conferences.
Outside of Model UN, Cynthia is the President of Georgetown University Mock Trial, fueling the perpetual debate… which student-run activity can Georgetown earn more gavels in? Additionally, Cynthia gives campus tours with the Blue & Gray Tour Guide society and is a member of Delta Phi Epsilon, a [REDACTED] sorority. She’s been lucky to conduct research on [REDACTED], and spent a summer working in [REDACTED] and [REDACTED].
In her free time, you can find Cynthia knitting, raving about em-dashes, and begging her mom for pictures of her cat. Cynthia is so very excited to welcome everyone to Washington, D.C.!
CRisis Manager:
Kevin Piraino
-
Kevin Piraino is a member of the Walsh School of Foreign Service’s class of 2026, majoring in International Politics with a concentration in [REDACTED] and minoring in [REDACTED]. Kevin is from Long Island, New York, and no, he does not have a Long Island accent. He is a proud member of GUMUN, Georgetown’s collegiate model UN team, and has served as Secretary-General of NCSC LII and as Under-Secretary-General of Cabinets for NCSC LI, as well as running committees on [REDACTED] and [REDACTED] at NAIMUN, Georgetown’s conference for high schoolers. Outside of MUN, Kevin is a member of Georgetown University Club Fencing, where he fences saber and sometimes even wins! In his free time, he is a massive board game nerd (feel free to ask about favorite games), and loves playing D&D. Kevin cannot wait to CM the Ad-hoc Committee of the Secretary-General, and looks forward to meeting all the delegates!
