Model UNited Nations at Georgetown University
Part of the Georgetown International Relations Club, Georgetown University Model United Nations (GUMUN) is one of the strongest and most versatile teams on the collegiate circuit. GUMUN is the second-highest ranked team in the world and has been in the top two teams for eight of the past eleven years.
GUMUN travels internationally to ten conferences a year, where they consistently win Best or Outstanding Large Delegation. GUMUN delegates also earn individual awards across multiple organs and committee types. For the 2024-2025 competition year, Team GUMUN tied for most gavels and for most delegation awards.
Georgetown University as a whole ranks first among international affairs schools, solidifying the Hilltop as the perfect place to compete in collegiate Model UN.

NCSC Sister Conferences
In addition to NCSC, the Georgetown International Relations Association, Inc. (GIRA) hosts a diverse slate of Model UN conferences. In a single year, GIRA runs or supports seven MUN conferences in five countries across all delegate skill levels. Since GIRA staff is composed entirely of undergraduate staffers, Georgetown students don’t need to compete to be involved with MUN all year-round.
DistrictMUN
The District of Columbia Model United Nations (DistrictMUN) is a one-day conference hosted on the Hilltop campus for middle school delegates. Designed to be fun first and foremost, DistrictMUN strikes a balance between educational and competitive elements to serve as many delegates’ introduction to Model UN. For staffers, DistrictMUN is an opportunity to train the next generation of MUN All-Stars.
NAIMUN
The North American Invitational Model United Nations (NAIMUN) welcomes more than 3,300 delegates to the de facto national championship of the high school circuit. Over 270 staffers devise NAIMUN’s 41 committees, making NAIMUN the largest student-run MUN conference in the world. NAIMUN has a strong reputation both inside and outside of the MUN world for being a hub of debate in international and domestic politics alike.
GIRA Global
GIRA partners with external organizations to support international affairs education worldwide. In 2025, GIRA Global initiatives have supported MUN conferences in China, Ethiopia, France, and Colombia. GIRA hires select Georgetown students to chair committees abroad. Many of these Chairs also staff NCSC and NAIMUN, bringing cross-cultural perspectives to GIRA’s conferences in the United States.
