NCSC Sister Conferences
In addition to NCSC, the Georgetown International Relations Association, Inc. (GIRA) hosts a diverse slate of Model UN conferences. In one year, GIRA runs or supports seven MUN conferences in five countries across all delegate skill levels. Still, GIRA is always looking to expand its reach. Since GIRA staff is composed entirely of undergraduates, Georgetown students don’t need to compete to be involved with MUN year-round.
DistrictMUN
The District of Columbia Model United Nations (DistrictMUN) is a one-day conference hosted on the Hilltop campus for middle school delegates. Designed to be fun first and foremost, DistrictMUN is strikes a balance between educational and competitive elements. This conference invites delegations both local to the DC area and from across the world. For staffers, DistrictMUN is a great opportunity to help train the next generation of MUN All-Stars.
NAIMUN
The North American Invitational Model United Nations (NAIMUN) welcomes more than 3,300 delegates to compete at the de facto national championship of the high school circuit. Over 250 staffers devise and staff NAIMUN’s 41 committees, making NAIMUN the largest and most reputable student-run MUN conference in the world. Past keynote speakers have included Secretary of Health and Human Service Kathleen Sebelius and UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.
GIRA Global
GIRA partners with other international-affairs education organizations worldwide to provide workshops and logistical support. In 2025, GIRA Global initiatives have supported MUN in China, Ethiopia, France, and Colombia. GIRA hires select Georgetown students to travel and chair committees at these conferences abroad. Many of these students also staff NCSC and NAIMUN, bringing cross-cultural perspectives to GIRA’s conferences in the United States.
