In October 2025, after months of turmoil, Warner Brothers Discovery is up for auction. One of the most storied names in entertainment is on the market…and prospective buyers abound. Paramount-Skydance, Netflix, and Comcast have all shown interest, but complications regarding the division of assets may throw a wrench into any takeover plans. While Warner Brothers publicly shows neutrality towards all offers, a number of concerns have surfaced regarding foreign influence in the bids, drawing scrutiny from regulators and lawmakers. At the same time, prominent American politicians and major figures in Hollywood have voiced opposition to the consolidation of power, emphasizing threats to free expression, monopolistic behavior, and reduced creative autonomy. Calls for government intervention have grown louder, placing additional pressure on the negotiation process.
Regardless of the outcome, as one of the largest and most influential media companies in the world, WBD's next steps will fundamentally reshape the digital media industry. Theodora Lyne
CHAIR
Theodora Lyne (she/her) is a member of the class of 2027 in the College of Arts and Sciences from New York City, majoring in Government and minoring in Italian and Science, Technology, and International Relations. NCSC LIV is her third NCSC, and besides being a crisis staffer at GIRA conferences, she had the pleasure of serving on the secretariat of NAIMUN LXII along with the incredible Emily Vincent, as the Under-Secretary General of Contemporary Crisis. Most recently, she served as Secretary-General of DistrictMUN, the Georgetown International Relations Association’s middle school conference. Outside of GIRA, Theodora is a member of the Philodemic Debate Society, is part of an advocacy group, and does election reporting. In her free time, she likes to take long walks along the Potomac, pretend to get work done in the library with her friends, and rewatch the West Wing.

Emily Vincent
CRISIS MANAGER
Emily Vincent (she/her) is a member of the class of 2027 from New Hampshire in the McDonough School of Business, double-majoring in International Business and Accounting. NCSC LIV is her third NCSC, and besides being a crisis staffer at GIRA conferences, she had the pleasure of serving on the secretariat of NAIMUN LXII along with the amazing Theodora Lyne, as the Director of Programming. Outside of GIRA, Emily is on the board of Hoya Taxa, a community service organization which provides free income tax preparation in the D.C. area. In her free time, she likes to spend time with friends, read the same books over and over again, and make new playlists. She is also an avid baker.
